Book Tour **Warning Lots of Hyperlinks** Get your learn on

OK, so we went on the Route for the Overland Trail book tour with Nanc & Jess. Pretty cool. We followed along in the book -page by page.
Captain James H Simpson is who we were shadowing. Throughout Jess's book, he visits each part of the trail with Simpson's diary excerpts and his own journal entries. Very, very cool. The kids had their own field journals to make notes and draw pictures. We saw lots of historical markers and plenty of wildlife. Strange, because we were in the desert. Surprisingly full of wildlife, the desert is. Anywho-- major learning weekend for homeschoolers and history buffs. And getting to see Jess in his element.
Visiting Pony Express stations, Lincoln Highway markers, Simpson Springs, Fish Springs, we saw book entries in real life. We saw where the cover art painting was taken from. We saw the ridge lines, crumbled stations, wagon trails, canyons, caves and we even saw a Golden Eagle.
